This past weekend I got to spend time at Hope Springs Institute at a HSI Board Meeting. Lots of you know that Hope Springs has served as a home space for me, and Suzanne Stevens (the founder of Hope Springs) as a community mama for me over the past 23 years.
Hope Springs is the place that holds Nzuzu’s 16 month Fire & Water Journey, our Circle Immersion Retreat, and this year it held our 1st Gathering of the Wisdom Keepers that I co-hosted with Betsy Pourvakil. This is my third time on the board (my 1st time was when I was 30 years old) and I am so excited to say that this board ROCKS!!!
We are a diverse board that has different layers of connection and relationship with Hope Springs. This allows for rich deep conversation and view points. We are a new board of nine women with some of us just starting last month.
What I want to share here is about the retreat and my experience of it. We invited a facilitator to come and hold us so we could all be in it. This was a smart move. We held time to cook for and serve the staff dinner our 1st night, to learn together more about the sacred places on the land, to make some tough decisions and some easy ones, to play, laugh, cry, and just be together.
I left feeling held in all ways. I am reminded of something Fanchon Shur (one of my teachers) said to me, “Show up! I can take all of you.” I felt that here. I felt like there wasn’t any part of myself that I couldn’t bring into this circle, with these women, in this place. I am so filled with gratitude and excitement for what is to come.
