I have been thinking about how often people ask me for resources for where they are in their journey. There are lots of resources that I love and with it being the holidays I thought I would offer a new series called Q’s Favorite Things.
I have shared recently that my house has been full of grief lately so the first thing I want to offer as one of my favorite things is The Grief Deck: Rituals, Meditations, and Tools for Moving through Loss
Sixty beautifully illustrated cards, created by a diverse array of artists and grief workers, feature thoughtful prompts, simple activities, and grounding resources for coping with loss, including:
Meditations for reconnecting with your body and senses and taking moments to reflect in nature
Prompts to help you address anxiety, hold a vigil, or create rituals of remembrance
Guidance on finding time for intentional rest and developing daily routines
And much more.
Each activity is paired with artwork for reflection.
This deck has so many wonderful options from remembering your ancestors to discerning the difference between grief and depression. It offer meditations, breathing exercises, and even grief doll making.
I love this deck because it has so many options that there is something for everyone.
One of my elders, Fanchon Shur says, "When we think terror is the biggest thing art is always bigger."
Each activity is paired with artwork for reflection. I love the artwork on the cards.
Here are just a few:
If you don't know how to grieve you don't know how to live. Grief helps us to release what no longer serves us so that there is room for the new that we want in our lives. These cards will support you in building your own relationship to grief.
Ordering the cards for the link above through Bookshop allows you to support independent book stores and Nzuzu.
