Yet we throw food away and stand by and watch them go hungry

Yet we put them through school weapon drills that traumatizes them to cover our schools legal asses

Yet we sentence them to a longer time in our foster care system than we give prison sentences to the people who abuse them
We say we love our children
Yet we continue to look to them to lead the way instead of growing up ourselves and being the elders that they need

Yet far too many of them go without adequate healthcare
We say we love our children
Yet we funnel our poor and children of color through the school to prison pipeline to provide cheap labor for private industries
We say we love our children
Yet we continue to send our young boys and girls into war because our old men don't know how to talk
We say we love our children
Yet we continue to rape the planet that holds their future
We say we love our children
Yet all of these things above tell a different story because
